Treatment of Hospital Waste

Hospital wastes may be treated in a number of ways before disposal. These include heat and chemical treatment, incineration and landfill, while liquid chemicals should be disinfected by the generator and discharged into the sewage system. The
treatment of hospital waste prior to disposal reduces the risk of infection during handling and transportation to the extent changing waste from classifying it as hospital.

Incineration used to be the method of choice for most hazardous hospital waste and is still widely used.
