Importance/ Advantage/ Benefits of Safety at the Workplace



The importance of occupational health and safety or safety at work place is to improve, promote and maintain the health of workers at work place.

According to the factory Act [1990] is to prevent illness and injuries caused or aggravated by work and to promote the physical, mental and social well being of workers in all kind of occupation. The importance of safety at work place is classified into various classes which include the following season.


Moral reason, legal reason and financial reason

Legal reason relate to the preventative and compensatory effects of laws that protect workers safety and health. It also reduces employee injury and illness related cost, including medical care, sick leave and disabilities benefit cost. 

Others are to prevent illness from workers to prevent occupational accident to ensure the safety of workers, to ensure that workers are protected from harmful effect and hazard to improve employee’s health employee morale and productivity.
