Theoretical/Conceptual Framework on Land Erosion

According to Carla (2008), the soil is the tiny loose materials covering the earth. It is formed from weathering of rocks into small particles of three zones or strata referred to as the top soil and the horizon of deep soil. The top soil contains high proportion of decaying remains of plants and animals.

Tarbuk and Lutgens (2004), asserted that the soils are just a tiny portion of all earth materials, yet are vital resources, because soils are necessary to the growth of rooted plants. They are the foundation of the human support system. Despite their basic role in providing food, fibre and other basic materials, soil are among our most abused resources. These abuse results in soil erosion and other negative effects of land degradation.
